Care

Carry one another's burdens; in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2, CSB

We believe that providing care to others is a responsibility of Christ's Church

Our Care Deacons consider it a privilege to come alongside you in prayer, support, Biblical encouragement & counsel through life's hard times, ailments and struggles - with a heart of compassion.

We encourage you to connect with others as a part of the Body of Christ. It is an honor to come alongside a brother or sister and carry their burden with them through life's troublesome experiences.

Our blessed Lord cared so deeply for us in sending His Son, so we hope to reflect that love to others at Hopewell Church.

As needs arise, please let us know so that we can help!

As followers of Jesus, we are instructed to, "carry one another’s burdens." It is the Church's responsibility to take care of each other. Our Care Deacons and Pastors work together to make sure needs don't fall through the cracks. It is an honor to come alongside each other in times of need to demonstrate the love of God to our neighbors.

Deacons are men and women appointed by leadership to serve the congregation, especially with regard to physical and emotional support. Acts 6:1-6

Deacons exercise God given gifts of service, hospitality, mercy, and exhortation as they express personal care for the church body from within. 1 Timothy 3:8-13

Words of Encouragement

  • "Therefore, don't worry about tomorrow, because tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." - Matthew 6:25-34 CSB

"Don't worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving; present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus." - Philippians 4:6-7 CSB

"Why, my soul, are you so dejected? Why are you in such turmoil? Put your hope in God, for I will still praise Him, my Savior and my God." - Psalm 42:5 CSB

  • "The Lord is my shepherd; I have what I need. He lets me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. He renews my life; He leads me along the right paths for His name's sake. Even when I go through the darkest valley, I fear no danger; for You are with me; Your rod and Your staff - they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil, my cup overflows. Only goodness and faithful love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord as long as I live." Psalm 23 CSB

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away." Revelation 21:4 CSB

  • "Be strong and courageous; don't be terrified or afraid...For the Lord your God is the one who will go with you; He will not leave you or abandon you." - Deuteronomy 31:6 CSB

  • "Is anyone among you suffering? He should pray. Is anyone cheerful? He should sing praises. Is anyone among you sick? He should call for the elders of the church, and they are to pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord. The prayer of faith will save the sick person, and the Lord will raise him up; if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven. Therefore, confess your sins to one another and pray for one another, so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is very powerful in its effect." - James 5:14-16 CSB

"Lord, by such things people live, and in every one of them my spirit finds life; You have restore me to health and let me live. Indeed, it was for my own well-being that I had such intense bitterness; but Your love has delivered me from the Pit of destruction, for You have thrown all my sins behind Your back." - Isaiah 38:16-17 CSB

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes. Death will be no more; grief, crying and pain will be no more, because the previous things have passed away." - Revelation 21:4 CSB

    Prayer for the sick:

May the hands of the Great Physician, Jesus Christ, rest upon you now in divine blessing and healing. May the cleansing stream of His pure life & love fill your entire being: body, mind and spirit, to strengthen and heal you. Amen.

  • "Though the fig tree does not bud and there be no fruit on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the field produce no food; though the flicks disappear from the pen and there are no herds in the stalls, yet I will celebrate in the Lord; I will rejoice in the God of my salvation." - Habakkuk 3:17-18 CSB

  • "We do not want you to be uniformed, brothers and sisters, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, in the same way, through Jesus, God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep." - 1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 CSB

  • "Concerning this (affliction), I pleaded with the Lord three times that it would leave me. But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness.' Therefore I will most gladly boast all the more about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may reside in Me. So I take pleasure in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and in difficulties, for the sake of Christ. For when I am weak, then I am strong." - 2 Corinthians 12:8-9 CSB

  • "Now to Him who is able to do above and beyond all that we ask or think according to the power that works in us - to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen." - Ephesians 3:20-21 CSB
